Private Moments

Private Moments Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

No account

Private Moments does not require an account, registration, login, subscription, in-app purchase, or ads in the first App Store release. The app is designed for a single user's private timeline on their own devices.

No tracking or third-party analytics

The first App Store release does not include advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, or developer-operated user accounts. Private Moments does not sell personal data.

Local-first storage

Your moments, comments, tags, check-ins, generated summaries, and media are stored on your iPhone first. The app is designed to work without signing in to a developer-operated service.

Data we handle

Data How data is collected Where it is stored How data is used
Moments, comments, tags, check-ins, favorites, pins, and search metadata You create, edit, import, or organize this content in the app. On your iPhone first. If iCloud Sync is enabled in a submitted build, it may also be stored in your private iCloud database. To show your timeline, calendar, search, filters, tags, check-ins, and personal reviews.
Photos, videos, audio, documents, thumbnails, and duration metadata You capture media, choose media, record audio, scan or import files, or use the iOS Share Sheet. On your iPhone first. If iCloud Sync is enabled in a submitted build, related media may also be stored in your private iCloud database. To attach media to your moments, play it back, preview it, export it, and keep your archive usable across your own devices when sync is enabled.
AI-generated summaries, titles, tags, transcripts, reviews, and token usage metadata Generated only when you enable and use AI features. Generated artifacts are stored on your iPhone. Provider credentials are stored in the iPhone Keychain. To help summarize audio, video, text, or personal review content and to organize your archive.
Settings, provider endpoint, model names, sync preferences, and diagnostics state You configure these settings or the app records local operational state. On your iPhone. API keys and provider secrets are stored in the iPhone Keychain. To run the features you enable, remember your preferences, and help diagnose local sync or export issues.

Data sharing

Private Moments does not send your timeline to a developer-operated account service in the first App Store release. Data may leave your iPhone only when you choose features that require it, such as iCloud Sync, export, sharing, or a user-configured AI provider.

Optional AI and Bring your own provider

AI features are optional. If you enable AI, you choose your own provider, endpoint, model, and API key. Private Moments does not provide a developer-hosted default AI service in the first release.

When AI is enabled, the content needed to create summaries, titles, tags, reviews, or transcripts may be sent to the provider or endpoint you configure. That provider processes the content under its own privacy policy and terms. Enable AI only if you accept your provider's handling of that data.

Private Moments does not control whether your chosen provider stores inputs, uses them for training, or supports deletion requests. Review the provider's privacy terms before enabling AI.

iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is optional when available. If enabled in a submitted build, your moments and related media may be stored in your private iCloud database so your own devices can access the same archive. AI provider keys and secrets should remain local to each device.

Export

Export files can include private text, comments, tags, summaries, reviews, check-ins, and media. Export packages are intended for your own backup and migration checks. Keep exported files in a trusted location and delete them yourself when you no longer need them.

Withdraw consent

You can stop future AI processing by turning off AI features or removing the configured provider credentials. You can stop future iCloud Sync by turning off iCloud Sync if that feature is available in your build. You can also deny or revoke iOS permissions such as Photos, Camera, Microphone, and Local Network in the iOS Settings app.

Retention

Private Moments keeps local content until you edit it, delete it, import over an empty library, or delete the app. If you enable iCloud Sync, synced content may remain in your iCloud account until deleted there. Export packages remain wherever you save them until you delete them. Content sent to your chosen AI provider is retained according to that provider's policy.

Delete your data

Because the first release has no account, there is no developer-operated account to delete. You can delete local app data by deleting the app from your iPhone. You are also responsible for deleting export packages you created, content stored in your iCloud account, and content sent to your own AI provider.
